Mitozoos was designed with the aim of exploring the relationship between genetic code and life. By creating an interactive artificial life model, participants could experiment and play to better grasp this relationship. Our work provided an interface that gave participants the ability to create virtual organisms, called “mitozoos”. Essentially encoding their DNA, participants would witness the evolution of the organisms through a simulated biological universe. The mitozoos live, reproduce and die, in a system which allows their genetic code to carry and even mutate, generation after generation. In mitozoos, genetic information is displayed by a series of color codes, designed to represent the chemical compositions of DNA.
